David C. Buxbaum participated in China Patent Enforcement Iudustry Meeting held by Amcham South China with the support of the Department of Commerce and USPTO

The meeting held in the China Hotel, Amcham South China offices, included the following participants, among others, the Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Teresa Stanek Rea, U.S. in Guangzhou Consul General, Brian L. Goldbeck, Chairman of Amcham South China, Harley Seyden, Conrad Wong from USPTO in Guangzhou, who organized this fine meeting, US patent attorney Michel Lin of Marks & Clerk Hongkong, patent attorney Toby Mak of Tee & Howe, patent attorney Jeffrey Siew of United States Patent and Trademark Office, and IPR Specialist Lin Xu of U.S. Consulate General Shanghai.

Harley Seyedin and Teresa Stanek Rea delivered opening remarks. Mr. Buxbaum spoke at the meeting on two topics: “Judicial impartiality and transparency” and “Evidence collection and preservation”. Other issues discussed at the meeting include “Acquisition of utility model/design patents”, “Damages and injunctions”, “Enforceability of court orders”, and “Administrative patent enforcement”. The aim of the meeting is gathering information so as to make recommendations for discussions with Chinese government organizations.
